A Poem by Apollos

What lies inside.

Beauty is what You say resides inside.
Humanity compromised by the lie that pride is the apple of their eye.
Satan waitin’ for the demise for a people feeling penalized.
Religious deprivation of a once holy nation.

Joseph sold into slavery and then accused of rapin’.
Who told them they were naked?
Who sedated King David?
Who laid with Leah?

Who am I to classify myself as having the right foundation?
Why oppose the accusations?
When Your breathe gets snuffed out what’s the point of resuscitation?
What happens when I run out of reasons to try?

You are Truth and I’m Your guy.
I fly high when I trust what’s deep inside.
Sin paralyzed when I reveal the freedom that sometimes hides.
Purified by Your blood that cries out I’m believing lies.

Author's Note

I often view my soul as ugly due to all the imperfections I perceive. This is my purification story.
