Hate yet Love

Hate yet Love

A Poem by Andrew John

"
I must detest one,
just the one, yes,
battle within myself
so that I can love the rest.

I use words and phrases
that hold my sense of conflict
so that my strict faith
may rest in my wish to love.

Our grip on love
may not exist; so let it not slip
into the wasteland of my mind -
a mind that holds so much conflict.

Are we born to create a passion
for a battle within ourselves?
Who can love
with no comparison with hatred?

So, yes, I do loathe one,
engender protest for one.
Am I to kill? I suspect not.
But hate? Oh yes, do hate.

Hate is not a word I think about. Dislike is a better one for me. I agree with what Jacob has said, you have to love yourself before you can love others. I think many of us may have struggled with that at times in our lives.

Who can love with no comparison to hate? What a question to ponder on and I am pondering on it.

I am liking your work Andrew.

Love, hate...loathing others, loathing myself.
we have to love ourselves first before we can love others.

And we really don't want to hate, but sometimes we just can't help what are feelings are and somehow must come to terms with our hearts.
