A Poem by alan peter kelly

beryllium
be the colour
of thine eyes.

atomic optics
are easy memories

they linger
on still simmering flesh
on
every yes ever expressed

sharp and heavy
as an elephant's
recollections

Sanctuary

in a post
truth age

is number four
on the periodic table

my only quality
a circumference
of spent
silver bullet casings

and the probability
that police will for always
be checking my hands
for gunshot residue.

broken teeth

a ring around
an extended digression

a paradigm fit
for professional
procrastinator

locked on
stainless steel chain
around scrawny neck
set to invite nooses

and accommodate
throttling.

thank you.
