For Joy

You can’t help but smile

Even though

A voice in the back of your head

Begs you to frown.

 

It’s the sun, glinting off the windows

Whispering that it’s going to be all right.

And even when the wind bites through your skin

There’s a sandy beach somewhere.

 

Jagged cracks still line your beating heart

But there’s a warm glow there too.

And you can feel it.

And you can hear it say that it’s going to be all right.

 

And in this moment,

You’re not sure if the tears forming in your eyes

Are for sorrow

Or for joy.

The way I interpret the poem is that the writer is determined to make it alright even though it may not be. I often find that tedious occasions are made more bearable that way. A very easy to read poem, well done.

i thought this was idealistic at first but it leaves it open that its not going to be all right. Tears of sorrow i would say.Anyway If you cant tell the difference between tears of sorrow and joy you know its not going to be all right.

This is a well written poem but it is still a bit ambiguous. But im going to say its going to be allrite shouldnt let my personal emotions affect the way i review a poem.

I wrote this poem in a moment where I was honestly feeling both emotions at the same time. I think it was just that I had felt down for a long time, so when I I was feeling happier, it was hard to get rid of the sad feeling. It was a weird feeling, but a good one. However, poems are meant to be interpreted by the reader, and whatever you feel while you're reading it is all that matters. I appreciate your review. :) Thanks so much.
