Given Away

I wrote this after hearing my boyfriends views on women and marriage.

It is hard to understand
God's great plan
I am wholeheartedly devoted to it
As of yesterday
But why should a woman have to be given away
As if she were a treasure in her father's posession
I struggle with this
I find myself to be selling out somewhat
I am devoted to him
He has, in so many ways, rescued me
And continues to do so
Why can't a woman fight for her own
Why are women not good enough
Why is it our fault
That we came from man
Please, tell me if I am losing my mind
For this
Having a mother of great importance in a man's world
Should I feel obligated to follow in her foot steps
Or even agree with her beliefs
Or shall I let go and go with the Word
I suppose that the answer is in the question...
