Death Sentenced.

Death Sentenced.

A Poem by Alex Zynder

Terrible irony.
Always-
He is Death,
and so,
cannot die.

How can Death
Kill Himself?

The question is,
does he live,
Or simply
an entity
does he exist?

Never knowing
of joy
or love
or glory
but only
His task
Solely,
He is
in a
one man Purgatory

Not perfect.
He has made
Mistakes.
He's taken
Too Early
and
Too Late...

Oh Death,
Oh Death,
Why would
God hand
YOU,
such a wretched Fate...?

Interesting thought process. No one ever really does say...wow it was a perfect time to die, unless they kill themselves. And if they kill themselves, are they really killing themselves or is it still death and their number is up. And...if that is the case, then a savvy lawyer might be able to argue a a life insurance court case for a widow trying to collect on her hubby's suicide, because really, there would be no suicide. I loved this...sorry for the tangent.

this is a very interesting take on the death sentence- because he is doomed to death, he cannot really die. The first few lines of the last stanza are especially haunting- "Taking too early and too late"- pointing out the flaws in the justice system I think? I think your rhyme scheme is very unique and it works well. You have a great sense of rhythm.
