Cooled Water

Cooled Water

A Poem by Lexi Melton
"

Sometimes things simply break off. There is no grand tragic event to force us into not liking someone anymore. Sometimes, the water simply cools as we take them off of the front burner.

"

I used to like you.

A lot.

A lot a lot a lot.

But not anymore.

The feelings I once had

deep inside

like a boiling pot of strawberries

Something so sweet

and hot

has now been taken off of the red orange eye

I don’t hate you.

I’ve never hated you

I still love you

but my love has changed like the turn of the wind

or the push of the sea

or the flow of a meandering river

taken off the red orange eye

them strawberries

you’re still a piece of my heart

just not the aorta

keeping me alive

maybe you’re a piece of the pinkish flesh

on the outside wall

pink like boiled strawberries

But I realized once

how it felt loving you

and it wasn’t what I wanted

Maybe I’ll replace the strawberries with mangoes.

Under the mango trees it is all free. Nicely done fine that she was not really your true love as she holds a little spot for the moment in time that you thought, she might be the one. Well done
