Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by alison13
"

after four years of friendship, the day has finally come for us to part ways. but i will always keep you in my heart, and i hope you do the same.

"

Goodbye

I never thought the day would come

When we have to close our books and leave our second home.

We’ve been through a lot for the past four years

With the joy and pain, laughter and fights.

Some said goodbye a little too early,

While a lot hold on through it all.

We’ve always been looking forward

To the day that we’ll step into a new world,

But nobody warned us how hard it is to say goodbye.

They say high school wasn’t meant to last forever

And now we're only counting the days till we all have to move on,

While trying to put our best foot forward

And take the first step toward our future.

I never guessed how much someone could affect our lives.

From the teachers that taught us

Lessons other than the ones in the book,

And the friends who stick through the bad and good.

After this there’ll be no going back

And we’ll all be on our separate paths.

Time spent will just be memories in our head,

And feelings will just be emotions left behind.

But I hope if ever we all meet again,

The memories of being together will be reminisced.

And the friendships formed will always stay in our hearts.

I hate to say goodbye to everyone who touched my life.

But I know that forever does not exist,

And life will always go on whether we like it or not.

My only wish is that despite the things that are going to happen,

Our friendship would stand it and last till the end of time.

Dear Miss Elision, Why do you worry about the mistakes? You are just 14 years old girl(buddy) and you are able to write like a seasoned poet. You described your happy days and your hopes for the future as an optimistic student.Being an English teacher I appreciate your poetry very much. You have a bright future both as a student and a poet.

The poem is quite amazing and sentimental
It depicts the situation of standing on the verge of ending school life quite beautifully and quite naturally without any use of some extraordinary or super natural element
I am also a school student and I am left with only 2 more years in my school
Its hard to be without your besties, school campus and the school life which is the best part of our lives
Talking about the flow it is sometimes uneven but it's ok and I am happy that you didn't chain your lines into the useless rhymes
Thanks

A poem with a very sad tone. Leaving a place where you feel safe and know people. It is never easy. I could feel the sadness and the desire to hold on to places and friendship. A excellent poem. Thank you.
