Love

Love

Oh love, they chanted,
As hearts danced across the ice.
And he stood back,
Staring.

Oh, and she took his hands,
Hands chilled and pale.
She held them in hers,
And they danced.

Oh, and how he remembered
The way she danced
And danced and twirled
So gracefully.

And then, once
She fell on that ice.
And it shattered,
as did his heart.

Oh, how easy it was.
Like he had known all along,
He knew how to love.
He knew love.

She was love, so graceful and delicate.

And now, he's lost it.

Everything.

I guess that's what those love stories don't mention,
The pain that comes with the life and joy.
What happens after?

Death

The madness.

He was reckless, insane and hurt.

Oh, and all those nights
He spent crying, and crying.

Oh, and the blood
On his hands from where
He tried to forget
Her gentle touch on those hands.

Oh, and the last lonely moments,
He spent in the cold room
This was it.
Goodbye, love.

Oh love, they chanted.

Oh love.
