Man at War through the Centuries

Man at War through the Centuries

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

which is the way out

"
Man at War through Centuries

He laid naked by more than several centuries.
Arms, legs bound, his back facing ground.
His moral injury was greater than any civilian can know
He fought each war since time's first tick.
He would rise in his battle,
His soul all torn,
Curse like blackness on kingdom's moral cause.
When women & children witnessed the siege of death on their brow
Warriors screamed bloody murder where the axe did fall
As money and death were counted among gains & losses made
Our naked man laid down from his warrior like days.

His soul did twist in knots of a lie
The grace he once knew danced miles from his view
He cursed himself on the arrival of war
And swallowed himself whole as he escaped life's more.

Hi Pryde,

A chance on the open plains, the rush one attains from killing or being killed, the godliness of it all are the primaries. Second comes nation, strategy and duty. Thanks!

Al

War … to me is an anachronism of tribal and clan life … and now for a few too make money … we really really really don't need it … the suffering in this piece palpable … a poignant write.
