ReRun

Confederate clad soldier steps out of Vietnam
He's fighting for the South that's all he knows
He steps into a TV show ReRun
Who knows what drug he's on
Captured by the Union he's about to spill the beans
Where are your units regrouping or will brand you with fire
The heat comes close to his soul so he shows them the way to go.

A patrol in Vietnam headed for a village in Nam
Dead Union & Confederate soldiers strewn on the ground
Confusion abounds,
Where the hell are we?
Is this Vietnam?
A civil war in the making
with displacement of war as a secret code.

Here on TV the channels change,
Riots in Watts,
Killing at Kent State,
LBJ lying on the B**b Tube,
Nixon, the crook, drafting men for war,
Civil Right protests make it an all out war.

The Union troops visit the village,
Southern troops gather on the other side
Caught in the middle our American boys
The Civil War past extended by the vices of war.

Thanks Jacob. PBS did a special on the military draft, eventually they got to the Vietnam war, on and on and on the black stain raises its ugly head. One can one do? Shed tears, write, write something.

Thanks again!

Regards,
Al

fantastic piece, AL.

shows the reality that war is war is war. no matter where, no matter for what cause, it has the same destructive nature..."four dead in ohio" but many dead everywhere else as well.
might be my favorite from you.
