what whitman said of me

what whitman said of me

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

thanks walt!

"

what whitman said of me

here i drift into my own music
choral mumbling first to play
followed by the symphony of the first step
a coda nudges me on the shoulder
i turn to see it’s me totally undressed in soul
with conductor as pen ink lends itself to song
my baton twirls the air, triumphant i find
the electric that Whitman said of me

When i was a kid, i read Whitman, but never liked his style...as i grew up i began to appreciate his style more and more... it's strange how the words that were insignificant earlier could speak to my heart after these years...
Good writing, Al! Appreciate the reference..
