56. Kicked Out

*In Salt Lake City, Utah*

*Everyone is together again. The team is briefing Mayisha, Mulder and Scully on their experience to see what they can get from it. Because they’re sure the people that abducted them and Gideon and Megan are the UnSubs. Mulder and Mayisha try to convince them that they were abducted by aliens, but only a select few believe them. Megan and Gideon are out of the hospital; they seem to be okay. They’re just standing quietly next to one another. We’re interrupted by my phone ringing*

Me: It must be the hospital. I gave them my number when we came about Mayisha, Mulder and Scully. *answers* Hello?

Nurse on the Phone: We’re calling about the X-Rays.

Me: Yes?

Nurse: I calling to apologize. The X-Rays you received did not belong to whom I said they did. The one with the strange amount of hearts belongs to a Megan Soul. The one with only one heart belongs to a Jason Gideon. May I ask why--

Me: Thank you, have a nice day. *hangs up before she could ask about the two hearts*

Hotchner: So?

Me: They mixed up the X-Rays.

Megan: Phew. *breathes out in relief*

Morgan: What?

Reid: Nothing. Just a little crisis we were freaking out about.

JJ: No one seemed too worked.

Prentiss: It’s over, isn’t it?

JJ: Okay… *is suspicious*

Mulder: I think we need to get off this case. This is beyond us.

Prentiss: What, the aliens? *sighs* ALIENS. AREN’T. REAL.

Mulder: Agent Prentiss--

*Mulder is about to argue when the door bursts open. A few official-looking people file in*

Lady Agent: Agent Hotchner?

Hotchner: That’s me.

Lady Agent: The BAU if officially off this case.

Morgan: WHAT?

Lady Agent: We’ve got control of it. Go home, Agent Hotchner.

*The agents leave*

Me: Well, that wasn’t too subtle.

Jocelyn: Someone wants us gone.

Prentiss: Yeah, but who? And why?

Hotchner: It doesn’t matter. We have to go.

Prentiss: But, we can’t leave! Whatever Mulder and Scully and Mayisha saw wherever they were, it’s big.

Reid: I don’t think local law enforcement can handle this alone.

Morgan: They need us.

Me: I’m with Hotch on this one. If we go poking where they don’t want it, we could get suspended.

Doctor: *angrily* You’re only on his side because you like him.

*Silence*

Me: *whirls around* What?

Doctor: You heard me.

Me: Honey, that makes no sense…

Doctor: *gets up and leaves*

Me: Doctor… *follows him*

*Silence*

Hotchner: I am your Unit Chief, and I say we leave.

Morgan: Fine.

Reid: They better call us back.

JJ: I’ll call the jet. *steps out*

Mulder: Mayisha do you still have the…?

Mayisha: *pulls out the device* Yup.

Prentiss: *looks at it* I have… no idea.

Scully: Neither do we.

Jocelyn: It’s just a mystery that will never be solved.

Reid: Why do I have the bad feeling this will come back to bite us?

Prentiss: You always have that feeling, Reid.

Reid: But… Yeah, I guess I do.
