The Old Balding Tree

The Old Balding Tree

A Poem by alternative_be

The old balding tree

Is shedding its last hairs

Thin hairline threads

Leaving lacelike leaves

An invisible web

Tangled in its fate

Please let me die in dignity

Leaving no trace other than

Thin hairline threads

Leaving lacelike leaves

An invisible web

Leading to eternity

Please let me live on

Leaving no trace other than

Thin hairline threads

Leaving lacelike leaves

An invisible web

Nourishing new life

Flourishing new sprouts

Budding new trees.

Interesting piece.. I love your ending lines in each stanza.. It pulls them all together.
"An invisible web
Tangled in its fate"
"An invisible web
Leading to eternity"
"An invisible web...
Flourishing new sprouts
Budding new trees."

Was not sure if this was a poem about human ageing or if it was indeed a nature poem about trees. Either way an enjoyable read. thank you, shallimarRose
