The old poet

This poem was inspired both by the saying 'one apple a day..' Recently someone modified this into 'one poem a day ... which inspired me!

 

The old poet

 

He states

“One poem a day

keeps the doctor away”

 

He creates

Entire poetic states

Of

The union

 

Between all

Writers

Union

 

Should prevail

Who knows

What it does entail?

 

To be brave

To have

Sanity

Integrity

 

Every day

You stay

In this

…

Precious

Life

 

Worthy

 

To preserve

By writing

Your sorrows

Facinating. There is a sort of physical urgency about this. It is the way the 4 and 3 word lines at the top give way to the two word lines at the bottom as the poem seems to accelerate emotionally, much as it does visually. And you pull off the execution of the old poet's modificaion of the cliche with style. But the main point of the poem is the message which will be readily understood by all, and there are many, who do use poetry as therapy. Enjoyed the read.
