Mind over matter

Is often the advice you get

Hearing seemingly everlasting chatter

Suddenly stopped by ruthless dead

Of destruction

By nature distraught

Turning out not to be so perfect

As everyone thought

January 12th 2010

Not to be forgotten

A few years past

Some indeed will ask: ‘When?’

Time stood still

Mostly as we picture ideallic landscapes

January 12th 2010

Time stood still after the earth shakes

Quakes, shakes, quakes, shake

Some wide awake

Others forever silenced

Lifes severed in body parts

Under the remains of what once were

Buildings, houses, a home

Sudden death does make derilict

Delapidated are the remains

Of what once were

Minds and matter

To many strucken souls

Made homeless by nature’s freak shake

Now the time has come for a wake

For awake are the living mourning

Over vanished loved ones

Suddenly gone the next morning

Now minds do matter not to forget

Rebuilding what once was

Reduced to a figament of the strength

Empowered by

Mind over matter

our minds are the most powerful tools. some use it for bad some use it for good.
in today's time we see the most using it for the worst. there are some people who bring minds together to establish good in this world but its a few. i feel writers do the latter.
they use their minds to create beautiful, enlightening work and spread it across oceans, around the globe

Nicely written poem

Ach, how uncanny. I meant to reply, belatedly, to your comment and thought the best way to do it was to read a poem or two. I cld not believe it when I opened up this on on the very day Japan was hit. Your words are uncannily apt. And leave me feeling a little shocked to read them.

I loved it, the quake destroyed more than mere homes...

A stunning tribute to what is a terrible loss of life, and homes, so many suffered in the quake..........you have written with such compassion, and yes, mind over matter........to build and begin again.

The mind is always the best tool... that is when we use them to our fullest... unfortunately the mind becomes a weapon to those who miss use... just like this quake you speak of the use of minds to coordinate relief and rebuilding efforts is a great example of mind over matter.
