Darkened Night

Darkened Night

A Poem by Lauren Beth

A night together, happy,

Finally. Then...

You, falling asleep.

On the couch, a movie playing,

That you said you love.

Out to smoke a cigar,

You go.

Time passes, an hour or so.

My phone, it is you.

You say “I’m at the bar”

Down the road.

Music pumping, my heart

Begins thumping.

I’m waiting for you…

And you have no intent

On returning…

anytime soon.

Alcoholics are tough to live with and love... they only think of themselves... very nicely done.

About
I enjoy writing poetry, usually just what comes to me. I write for me, it's like just something that I need to get out. Whatever hits me at the moment I start jotting down, on sticky notes, napkins.... more..
