Secret Love

Secret Love

A Poem by Lauren Beth

Phone vibrates

Heart races
Wish I could answer
Yet relish the excuse not to
Is it him? I secretly hope
But tell myself I don’t
I take a peek
My knight in shining armor
For now undercover
Can I let go of everything I know?
All I’ve been trying to hold onto
For so long.
I need to release it
Can’t forever keep this secret
Trying to hide how we feel
We belong to others still
But this love is just too real
Anticipation of word from you
Consumed by nerves,
Hidden email and phone
Just want to let it all go
And run into your affirming arms
To forever stay and grow

Loving someone else while loving terribly hard, yet so common. Problem is, the cycle tends to repeat over time, but then who can resist the desire.

Nice work.

Awe this is like a childhood crush... wanting to tell the other but remain silent not wanting to ruin the perfect fantasy.

Is it love or fantasy??? After reading this.. almost sounds like two old flames that want to break away from current relationships that have dried up.. to pursue each other.. from one end anyways! Maybe you should both cut the partners loose so that they can have 100% of someone who really wants them. Life is too short to live like this.. I say go for it or reevaluate what you have.. but live! Love is work no matter whose arms you end up in though! Good luck.

I enjoy writing poetry, usually just what comes to me. I write for me, it's like just something that I need to get out. Whatever hits me at the moment I start jotting down, on sticky notes, napkins.... more..
