Fragile

Fragile

A Poem by Lauren Beth

I had been so fragile for so long…

As if at any moment I’d fall.

Shatter on the floor into a million little pieces.

Minute, shredded and sharp little pieces.

Felt I was empty…nothing left.

It was all gone, everything wrong.

A gashing hole where a heart should’ve been.

Happiness a remote, long distance friend.

A foundation once so strong…

Now unsteady, a crack so deep, so long.

Handle with care….

Beautiful description of how hard it is to fix what's broken. And it is so searingly honest, I really like this poem and can truly relate to it. I particularly love the last line. Like the person is a fragile object.

The imagery is evocative, the visual comparisons of the wounds we take and how vulnerable we can be sometimes. Really like it !

The human condition is very fragile especially in matters of the heart... it is the strongest part of the body as well as the weakest... very straight forward emotions expressed here... I admire you for letting your walls down and opening up.

This show how a person can feel
when the world is so cold. Your poem
made me feel that life can suck but
there is hope around every corner.

Thanks for sharing.

Love it! Felt that way so many times! The line "happiness a remote, long distance friend" was my favorite line.

Wow, awesome poem. I've felt the same way since my divorce. Don't feel alone. Great job!
