THE AMULET'S ALLURING CHARM

THE AMULET'S ALLURING CHARM

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Around the neck
Hangs the charm
That captures the eye
From a tribal clan.
To cast a spell
On those who seek
Only to be held
By the strong not the weak.
A symbol of power
In the hands of greed
Attempting their fate
On those it feeds.
Unleashing powers
That cannot be tamed
To wreak havoc
On minds enslaved.

Interesting subject and one wonders from whence it fell into your thoughts. You express well the way in which people are led to believe in magical powers as a way of control. As with any religious belief in fact. I think you meant wreak havoc?

I do it all the time. Not good at checking my own work!
Shades of the ring from LOTR here Andrew. An affecting piece of writing about an affecting piece of jewelry or any position of power. I like the title - it draws one in.
Very mysterious my friend.

Hi Andrew. Oh the power of the amulet . . . in the minds of the believers!!! A very clever write, again the levels are there, the veiled hints at metaphorical allusion are just so subtle and brilliant. great poem, alf

I feel honored to be the first one to leave a review. I must say, this one's another potent piece. The rhyme scheme is remarkable and great job on the figures of speech. It's simply clever!
