The brief in few words.

The brief in few words.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Left in briefs
from being brief -
an understatement
however, a change is as good
as a never.
It was simple really
a door opened
a door closed
love in few words
I said hello
you said goodbye.
When the hello rode out
into the sunset on a goodbye
the saddle of no return
evident in the dismounting.
A horse without a saddle
a saddle that had a name
a paddock of memories
trampled underfoot
no longer fenced.
I was left bareback
ready to saddle up
with her stirrups.
