Ahoy! The post's arrived, there's someone home.

Of the ship that sails
on the sands of time
the galleon holds
all the thoughts gold
where memories are looted
and walk the blank,
the crows nest
is still alive -
new post arrives
through the letterbox.
Waves of whitewash
paint the the shipwreck's deck
and the cutlass slices
another day begone.
Roped are the memories
anchored in mind's bay
where shadows dock
and disembark;
in pirate's eyes glowing
the swaying lantern signals
not all is dead yet -
there's someone home.

Your poem reminds me of such great times past when my older brothers created games like yours! Even the more refined (sort of!) two sisters liked to climb the lower branches of a tree and pretend to walk the plank! Titch me just about managed it with Josh beneath, just in case I slipped! Think memories like that keep you younger than are.
Make believe should always stay safe.. is what keeps life thrilling, m' hearty! Apart from that, your wording is so imaginatively put, andrew... Hope life's being kind, no fires nearby.. been terrible in parts. Take care, keep safe.

You be thinking of pirates of the past Andrew. Did they drift into your thoughts while you were waiting for a letter to arrive? I was thinking pirates yesterday too. We had a deluge which formed an ocean on our crazy paving. That's where my grandson used to get in his plastic toy box and become a pirate afloat.
