Not only but also

A Poem by andrew mitchell

An important announcement
for everyone human.
Make sure you have
ten toes, eight fingers,
two thumbs and twelve
pairs of ribs.
Hold on to them!
I’ll explain later.

In the beginning
we were created as man and woman
to be followed by man on man
not forgetting woman on woman.
Now, through the inexplicable
exchange of ribs and possibly digits
we now have LGBTQ+
which are perfectly alright.
But we don’t want this
infectious behaviour
effecting abcd, efgh and or xyz.
We already have abab, abb, aab, bba, baa,
plus acdc.
Could effect the whole alphabet
not forgetting their characters.
So, if you see a God like figure
dressed in white with a grey beard.
Shout out. “ Hey Lord! What are you doing
with that rib in your hand.”

He’ll probably reply. I’m gonna make new ladies
I’ve got the best ribs in town.

Hey Lord, come back. You’ve dropped a rib on the ground.
