Reflections of the Mirror

Even the mirrors deceive .

I looked in the mirror

Hoping it would replicate

My real self

But all it revealed

Was The confident girl

Hidden behind fears and insecurities

It refused to show the misery

Hidden behind the forged grin

It showed the luminous eyes

Not the dreams that lied unfulfilled

It showed the long legs

But not their weariness

It showed the hands that rendered help

But not its eagerness to be lovingly held

Whoever said mirrors don't deceive ?

They to in the bogus reflections believed

i guess the last line must be this : They TOO in the bogus reflections believed"...am not sure anyways,...don't say they don't follow any rhythm i found it completely rhythmic a great write :)

The simplicity of words makes the piece even more powerful. i love reading it as i can really relate with the subject matter. In response to your note, i like that you did not follow any rhyme or meter, it makes it more genuine and unpretentious write.

This reminded me of a story I've read about the mirror always lying to whoever stands in front of it. Much like why it shows our left hand when we are raising ou right hand and so on.. I think you captured this in your poem as being a superficial character only seen from the outside while the truth is within the person. Thank you for sharing!
