I would rather
be
UN
redeemed

beautiful Canadian
girl
born of caste
fell in love
with a boy
not
prearranged

redeemed by death
her love imprisoned
by lies.

beautiful sisters
"auntie" let them
wear jeans
and put on make-up --

redeemed all three
at the bottom of
the Rideau Canal
by father brother mother
brought their
culture with them
to our nation's capital
should have left it
where it was.

Pack up your honour
and bring it back
across the sea.

Happy,
free
UN
redeemed
I would
rather
be.

Not exactly sure where this is coming from, but I can only imagine, that link doesn't lead to a poem...'honor killings' what a bunch of rubbish....bleurgh!

I got a read request for a poem I already blocked out of my mind. It was about women who are w****s redeeming themselves from a writer not on my friend's list. Pretty bold, eh?
