the cantaloupe

the cantaloupe

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

some weird stuff is just seeping in

"
a cantaloupe
appears to be
sweeter
than it actually is
it shouldn't have
an off aftertaste
but it does,
and be damned
if they don't
always put it in
fruit salad.
                       sometimes
                 you just have to
                    ignore the cantaloupe
                          because you
                                like the rest.

Never knew fruit could be so 'Meloncholy ' a.
Take it there are no hidden meanings in this melon, or melons.
You just eat them, or don't as the case may be. lol
Off to eat my five a day now. Chivas, JD, Black Label, Red Label, apple.

I am not trying to change your mind, but I'm just sharing my point of view on cantaloupe. Some people know how to pick 'em & most people don't. My mom could pick 'em like nobody's business & it was melt-in-your-mouth sweet every time. I could sit & eat an entire cantaloupe in one sitting if my mom picked it. Most of the time, people pick ones that are not sweet & are tasteless except for a little mold flavor picked up from sitting on the soil. I never eat cantaloupe becuz I simply can't pick a good one.

i want those lips ... errrrrr sorry! lost myself a minute or two ;) just had a cantaloupe this morning .. it was the last slice ... they are so easy to pick and prepare ..how do you dare .. dis the dish in time so perfect .. its not like we are eating a burp-less cuke ..now is it .. i think you may have rushed to judgement on this one Dahlink!! ..
"Cantaloupe scores an "excellent" for both vitamin C and vitamin A (in the form of carotenoids). It scores "very good" for potassium, and "good" for a host of B vitamins (B1, B3, B6, and folate) as well as vitamin K, magnesium, and fiber." quoted from outer spaces of course ;)

some times one has to wait for the sweetest bite ;)

love and peace and delicious joy to you my friend!
"and be damned if they don't always put it in fruit salad." They do too. It's such a pain. I, personally, love cantaloupe. Sadly, I'm allergic to melon and strawberries. Try finding a pre-prepared fruit tray without one or both on it…

Cucumbers for me, god knows I have tried. But I cannot like them. Yet serve them as dill pickles and look out, I could finish off a quart jar. Maybe if you soaked your cantaloupe in pickling brine you might be able to tolerate it.

Oh I'm saving it for some special attention...-smiles with an EVIL grin-
Sweet little poem, I hear ya though.
I ignore the onions in my Greek salad, the raisins in my trail mix, the trail of socks etc that leads to the big man in my bed... His loud snoring, tough to ignore, but I deal.

Cantaloupe is the best but guess you can't elope with cantaloupe if you don't find it desirable.
Ok, it's late, my reviews are growing stranger... :)
It was a nice poem.
Did the BS meter break yet?
