thank God he's a country boy

thank God he's a country boy

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

a little tribute to men with dirt under their nails

"
He's got these
blue-green eyes
that twinkle
when he teases me.

He's got a mind
that's solid,
and a body
to match.

Most of his
wrinkles
are the kind
from smiling,

the few that aren't,
are just a touch
of worry,
I want to kiss away.

He isn't sophisticated,
and he doesn't do suits;
when he gets dressed up,
he wears his old cowboy boots.

He scrubs his
hands rough,
'cause he gets
dirt under his nails.

the only
part of him
that's soft,
is his heart.

I am getting to know this guy better and better through your words here on WC. Seems like the kind of folk I grew up around, making their own way in life, by their hard work.
Well done.

Chew tabaca, chew tabaca, spit, boys around heah! ; )
I liked the poem. I like the country feel of life. Same goes for the woman. Want a woman who like to dance, sing and have some fun. Good music and excellent poetry .

Yes, well, fall is a busy time for farming.
There are times when recognition is necessary. There are some that are of no good but then there are some that try.The writing takes you to a place of the ones that do try. Nothing fancy not a lot of pretentiousness. Probably hard work and a caring attitude which has made that Man compasionate and understanding.

His heart in the right place then....

Thanks so much. The muse goes where she wants when she wants.
I have so much respect for those who keep the heartland of the country alive, they are truly the ones that keep this country feed. And they work hard with knowing how much they will make from year to year.

Yes they are, in a very good way.
I fully and completely endorse this poem.
Gotta love a man's kind of man. Rugged, handsome... Yet sensitive.
Sigh.

I have been thinking I need a country singer for some of my poems, thanks.
