A Chapter by Lyn Anderson

what you thought it was, is likely not at all what it was actually

the one who
made you melt
when he
looked at you
from across
a crowded room --
sidled over
"I have a crush on you,"
slapped on a
liberal white wash
of patented poetry
for good measure --
he was nothing
but a lout.

the one
who picked you
and kissed you
under the autumn moon
the one who
told you sweetly,
no, don't turn around
so soon
I want to see
your face
was also the one
to find another
to take your place

the one who told you
he'd be with you till the end ...
has a kid and a dog
with your ex-best friend.

but the one who was honest
from the very start,
he's the one
 who has your heart.

So nice to have connected with new positive people in here as of late.
the first three ones were full of empty promises and love pretensions, must be romantic in the beginning but at the bottom of things, when worse comes to worst, we all need someone who'll walk with us through the hard times, if not carry us , when we can't walk anymore

So very true, but it takes a long time to not get tricked by the tricksters.
i like the positiveness of the last one...the honest one...the one who doesn't play games, doesn't presume...

just feels and hopes she will feel for him disguises just as is...

reminds me of the saying "don't make promises you can't keep"----
