My passion bears careful scrutiny

My passion bears careful scrutiny

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

scrutinised passion -- not sure what that means

"

Rooted in Reality

People want to believe

that love is magical

and happens upon us

Unexpected --

like floods, fires,

and earthquakes ...

That's not the way

it has to be.

I choose love

rooted in reality.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

symmetrical equation

There is a certain symmetry

Between the you that is you

And the me that is me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

you say like it's a bad thing

"Mach·i·a·vel·li·an",

she called me.

as if thinking

through love

is selfish,

and falling headlong

without a plan,

is not.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 passionate scrutiny

I am prone to over analysis

this is true,

it's just something

I always do.

but after a careful

examination

of everything

that is you and me

I do conclude

my passion

bears careful scrutiny.

Perhaps, what that person doesn't realize is that love... true love.. commitment...deserve a bit of thought. Maybe, because I have lived through some ill thought out relationships and seen and felt the damage, I am too scrutinizing myself. Sometimes, that has gotten in the way, but usually not. When my heart knows, as you say, the passion will bear scrutiny. Wonderful message and love the way you put it all together on the page.

Love! Love! Love! This is a great collection of perfectly connected dots. I mean, they don't go together like a puzzle, but with just enuf proximity to keep the mind wandering in one direction like a curvy stream. Your description of being analytical & contemplative is something I can really relate to. I spent the first half of my life being reactive, now I find I'm very adverse to the very things you're eschewing here in a gentle, non-judgmental way. Nice job & thanks for sharing. I can feel more of your intensity in this collection.

while there may be a chaotic quality to love, the heart and soul of love is a "symmetrical equation" and it is through this symmetry, that love becomes a very wild and crazy affair, in other words, very passionate... nicely and passionately done KL..

I do not do this often, but I would like to make a bit of a suggestion, do you want to pause the flow by using a comma at the end of "through love"?? it mostly is just me, but I like the smoothness as you read without the comma....

in reading your poem, I was wondering how much being hurt in a previous relationship is also involved in over thinking... I think we should always understand the necessity for symmetry (the "you of you" and the "me of me"), the reality as you put it, while allowing for just plain reaction to their presence at times... it takes some real mutual respect and equality for this to happen I think... anyway, perhaps I am "over thinking" your poem KL, as it is a very good one!! thanks for sharing it...

Thank you for the review.
I'm not really sure I understand what 'scrutinized passion' means or in what context he delivered this.
I'm sure it was good though. Don't we all scrutinize, analyze way overthink things when it comes to love?
No? What!? Anyhow, absolutely enjoyed this.
