A Chapter by Lyn Anderson

"
i was a plant
left to wilt
in a tiny closet,
deprived of sun

climbing the walls,
seeking the sun;
craving water,
drowning in dirt.

a crack of light,
an open door,
outstretched limbs,
reached for more.

old leaves shed
new buds grew
away from him
and into you.

It conveys a nice message and has a nice metaphorical outline. I just love plant/flower images, I often use them to explain growth, decay and development. This is a simple but lovely poem on change/development watered by hope. I'm glad I could inspire you.

love Sade, and this song is wonderful... yes, through a great metaphor, you express just how someone can be a "kiss of life", can open your eyes to possibilities only imagined before, that are now becoming reality (new buds)...

it's nice to be able to have this isn't it!!?? this, "color of love" and "sunshine"... love your poem KL

Thank you. I was very much inspired by Vanessa.
Very well used metaphor. Sometimes ones extended this far feel as though they are reaching. Not this one. Glad that you are growing again.

Thank you for the read and review.
him was too dark with no light and left you thirsty...
so glad you climbed out of this place into a new "you"
i love the image of climbing to live, to survive- and then blooming into something more.

Beautifully scripted piece. So often all we need is just a sliver of light to illuminate the way. This is a great analogy of life when we find ourselves surrounded by a thick and viscous darkness, we must always look for the cracks so we might grow and thrive.
