A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

random (maybe not so random) thoughts

"
poor froggie,
tries to burrow
under the rocks.

my kitchen table
is cold
compared to Africa.

i listen,
but he no longer
speaks to me.

except
in my disjointed
dreams

where i am swallowed
by all the things
i have yet to do.

what I love about you...everything is simple and true to form, an African frog trying to hide, is how I often feel myself...overwhelming when I think of morning some, then I brush it way with gratitude that there might be another morning...

Nope. The froggie is alive and well in a bowl on my kitchen table.

Great line KL!

Swallowed by activity. I had a similar experience with the forest.

Hoota Hotta!
Varied thoughts, but always worthy of a poem. Life is too filled up with "stuff" to do sometimes. Our thoughts run the gambit....and we ARE swallowed up by responsibility. Always a pleasure, KL. Lydi**

He'll never make prince if he keeps hiding unless he only wants to be prince of your dreams.
I hope it's not the frog out of the joke about the library in which he was handed book after book and he just kept saying 'reddit, reddit!'

I enjoyed my first KL Goode read. Thank you for posting.

My pleasure.
this particularly speaks volumes to me:
"my kitchen table
is cold
compared to Africa."
and who hasn't been harried in the course of living .. while ice fishing all by myself on a pretty remote little pond .. as i hovered over the hole my thoughts slowly wound down and my self exclamation was; "Wow ... all that noise of the city was inside my own head" ... hmmmmmmmm! ;) i like this poem KL. its so everyday living with grace and poetry added :)

PS made me think of the Rod Stewart song 'I don't Want to Talk About It'...."I don't want to talk about it, how you broke my heart. If I stay here just a little bit longer,
If I stay here, won't you listen to my heart, whoa, heart?"

nice song.
If random means thoughtless I fear not in your head 'M'. Free association perhaps? As Redzone aptly puts it it feels as if the protagonist is hiding from some duty/chore and of course 'the kitchen table' would be cold as Africa as it is an isolated place when one needs to get up and get on with it. Consumed perhaps by memories of loss or memories of something best forgotten which when dwelt upon cause inertia.
