contemplating the reproductive cycle of snails

contemplating the reproductive cycle of snails

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

For D Connolly -- thanks for the inspiration

"
She spent her afternoons
contemplating
hermaphrodites --
although it's not half
as dirty as it sounds --
it might be harder to explain
than internet porn,
but not half as
entertaining
as saying, boss, I'm sorry,
this work is so
forlorn,
I'd rather spend
my time learning,
how baby snails
are born.

Gee
Porn or snails, hmmm.
Tis said that if women had no legs they would too leave a trail to follow.
Got to say this is the first snail poem I’ve come across and a humorous one to boot :)

This poem seems to me to be making light of a weird research assignment. Weird research assignments are not an alien concept to me either. I’ve had research requirements that left me wishing and daydreaming about doing anything else.

I have no idea how snails are born, but they must be prolific, since they're often so numerous! I admire your playful wit & imagination, making as much of a statement about the work at hand, as to your tendency to daydream *wink! wink!* (((HUGS)))

Thanks for opining on this much less serious of my pieces.
I see the humor in this and I'm indeed smiling.

slow and squiggly, and many, many snails, thank you.
I love the word play, the consistent rhyme feels persistent rather than overdone.

All Dani's fault, I swear. Lol. Thanks for reading. 100s at a time, tiny squiggly precocious snails.
