On mites and mights

On mites and mights

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

conflicting phiosophies

"
On mites and mights she pondered
struggling to make sense
of the competing philosophies
she hesitates
as she contemplates
on how to start her day

On one hand
there is the fact,
that mites are apt to breed
in blankets not allowed to breathe
the whole day through
oh what's a girl to do?

And on the other
there's the admonitions
from the soldier, and your mother
that a task accomplished
is the very first one
make that bed upon the rising sun

Never mind the creeping feeling
they might be crawling
her ocd is calling --
disheveled bed clothes so appalling,
that does it, and tips the scales
on mights and mites her heart prevails,

She pats and and smoothes
and tucks those pesky bugs right in
so with a made bed her day can begin ...

I loved this poem.

The above lines. I could write a epic tale from. The lines, hard, direct and so good. Thank you Lyn for sharing the amazing poetry.

I will attempt dear Lyn. I liked this one.
I pulled from this... tackling our fears (even tho they may be small and unseen), to accomplish the small things and follow through on this soldier's great advice. This was wonderfully cerebral! Amazing execution.

Thanks very much
i second em's comments...
the mighty mites of what we might accomplish if we ignore the mites and might get a good night's sleep regardless of those pesky, restless thoughts that cause us so much unease.

Ignoring the mites is easier than ignoring the mess. :)
Concentrated words, Lyn, full of fine phrasing, meter, intention and shape. You write on so many different topics - but, this has to be the most fascinating - so far!

'Must be odd, I alternate my regimen re. bed: one day aired, one day bed linen shaken then tidied. Bed linen changed weekly - fusspot or time waster.. take your pick! (Never thought to air my habits!)

That's why we're here! Happy month, Lyn!
I make my bed every day...cuz I want to come in to a nice smooth bed with cold sheets at night. This was clever. That line about the soldier and the mom reminded me of Until I find You by John Irving...but then saw the video and that is pretty good. I would probably go with the mites as well. Great writing!
