painting you in words

painting you in words

A Poem by Lyn Anderson
"

more insufferable love lines from a smitten kitten

"

As the falling night paints

bruises on the day's rosy cheeks

I am coming

always coming

to you ...

Even when I have to leave

the rest of me is with you

Can you feel it?

Until I come again

if I could paint you in words

they would sing sweet and true,

If I could paint you in words,

they'd colour sky and sea blue,

If I could paint you in words,

your touch would be silk and sand,

If I could paint you in words,

your scent would be earth and land,

if I could paint you in words

the canvas would tell the world

how much I love you.

when I met you

I was drowning;

anchored to the bottom

I'd  forgotten I could swim.

and in my panic I drank your kisses

and let them fill me

forcing me to the surface

where I could breathe -

deep inside your calm

I found the will to love again

inside the ocean of your eyes

so honestly blue -

and in the roughness of your hand

barefoot on softest sand -

I found my way to dry land

when I met you

the words I write

aren't the half of what I feel

the words I say

aren't ever quite right -

you saved me

in ways I can't express -

and love -

I'll be here

as long as you want me to be -

and not a second longer

because that's how much

you mean to me

I haven’t talked to you in soooooo long ! I just now figured out how to see reviews. I appreciate your time as when taking in your words for that’s what it is- you are astounding as is this piece. “ If I could paint you in words,
They’d colour the sea and sky blue.” Love the rhythm- the color- texture and touching of the readers senses.
Thank you,
Dawn

Very lovely poem. Love can make people do things they never thought they would do.

Thank you for taking the time
This is one powerful statement of love. Much of the love poetry here vows undying affection, but the sense of gratitude to a rescuer in this one puts it far beyond the conventional. I hope the individual is aware of the depth of this feeling.

Thank you very much
*SIGH* the problem is, there really are no “words” that can express the depth of the words that flow in this poem Lyn... it is so so very good to read you again....

thanks, I will have to stop by...
Well Lyn, it's good to see that love has found you again. I do not feel any remnant of that bit of past that crept into your writing...but I certainly feel the emotions in this one. Honest love has come home.
Good luck & keep pumping these lovely verses out.

you`re welcome
This love has saved you by all accounts from depths of despair. Showing you how to love and live again. No wonder there is so much gratitude contained in your lines. Eternally grateful comes to mind. A beautiful poem of love Lyn. Heartfelt.
