painting you in words

painting you in words

A Poem by Lyn Anderson
"

more insufferable love lines from a smitten kitten

"

As the falling night paints

bruises on the day's rosy cheeks

I am coming

always coming

to you ...

Even when I have to leave

the rest of me is with you

Can you feel it?

Until I come again

if I could paint you in words

they would sing sweet and true,

If I could paint you in words,

they'd colour sky and sea blue,

If I could paint you in words,

your touch would be silk and sand,

If I could paint you in words,

your scent would be earth and land,

if I could paint you in words

the canvas would tell the world

how much I love you.

when I met you

I was drowning;

anchored to the bottom

I'd  forgotten I could swim.

and in my panic I drank your kisses

and let them fill me

forcing me to the surface

where I could breathe -

deep inside your calm

I found the will to love again

inside the ocean of your eyes

so honestly blue -

and in the roughness of your hand

barefoot on softest sand -

I found my way to dry land

when I met you

the words I write

aren't the half of what I feel

the words I say

aren't ever quite right -

you saved me

in ways I can't express -

and love -

I'll be here

as long as you want me to be -

and not a second longer

because that's how much

you mean to me

what a treasure this is and what a treasure that you have I would say something like bless your heart but that's already been done but I will say this poem is so truly lovely an expression of love and grace and gratitude and it sings

Thank you. I do think poetry and love sing when they're true. :)

Oh joyous ache .. these words have more than just a ring of truth woven throughout.. let others say whatever springs to mind.. I am grateful for being the first :)

Thank you so much. The joyous ache - I'll have to run with that one. Thank you :)
