"IT WAS JUST A SACHET"

"IT WAS JUST A SACHET"

A Poem by Amy
"

very mysterious....

"

“It was just a sachet”

That is what you said

“And only a mild pain”

You told me again

Then on my back,

I carried you

Into the hospital

The doctor said it was okay

That you will be out soon

Now I am by myself

Sitting with a forlorn hope

That you, my lost gold

Will be brought back unsold

I sit here

In this dark lonely place

How would I find my way?

With you nowhere near?

What have you done to me?

You said it was nothing

And now you are gone

The doctor said not to worry

And now he says, “I am sorry”

I am totally in a fix

In the middle of all this

Who do I talk to?

Whom do I turn to?

I surely do need a breakthrough

Just one sachet

Has caused me my courage

My best friend and my marriage

You should have said you were thirsty

And I would have made you some tea

But you chose to do things your way

Just like always

And there came the stomach pain

That made you restless

And snatched your breath away

Now you lay here breathless

And have left me friendless

Awake and look at me

Awake and smile at me

Awake and pinch me

Awake and say it was just a dream

Awake and just tell me

That you drank one sachet

And there was only a mild pain

That lasted for a day

But now you are okay…
