I Wish (I Could Draw)

I Wish (I Could Draw)

A Poem by Andrew N. Farrens

Yeah, man, sometimes I wish I could draw but alas, I cannot....

so I paint pictures with the words I scribble
late in the night
creating both Peace and havoc between the lines
of the paper on which I write
If there was not really a God or a Devil,
I'd be terrified
because I wouldn't know who to fight
Its a f*****g cliche to even have the nerve to say:
(so I whisper)
I'm just trying to live my life......
sheeeeiiieeeet,

I'm stoned, mother-f****r
and I'm trying to find E.T. so
that we both can phone for home, mother-f****r
Where is this? I couldn't tell you
because I really don't know
but I am sure this present reality is sick
and I suppose any other place would be good to go
Awwww s**t, my friends,
here I spout another tired cliche
Something along the lines of how we cannot escape,
no matter how dreary and akin to mental rape,
the utter finality and severity of grumpy old man Fate
With whom for most here now and then
we've a give and take sort of relationship

so I paint pictures with the words I scribble
late in the night
creating both Peace and havoc between the lines
of the paper on which I write
If there was not really a God or a Devil,
I'd be terrified
because I wouldn't know who to fight
Its a f*****g cliche to even have the nerve to say:
(so I whisper)
I'm just trying to live my life

Yeah, man, about this World, I just don't know
I've been trying to get my mind out of the gutter
but on T.V., its seemingly filth they only show
Lifestyles of the sick and depraved
if there was not really a God or a Devil,
then my Soul could never be saved
And in the present future,
The Government has already dug me a grave
but until they come for me, I'll continue to write
like what, as Americans, we should all say
“Give me Liberty or give me death”
And I'll be free until THEY
come for me in the grey fog
on a cold and rainy day
but please remember, that just like a name,
there is no part of the Future
that we cannot change.......

so I paint pictures with the words I scribble
late in the night
creating both Peace and havoc between the lines
of the paper on which I write
If there was not really a God or a Devil,
I'd be terrified
because I wouldn't know who to fight
Its a f*****g cliche to even have the nerve to say:
(so I whisper)
I'm just trying to live my life

If it's a choice between liberty or death, I think I would choose liberty, although some degree of corporate bondage has always been appealing to me. :)

interesting analogy Andrew..."The Government has already dug me a grave

but until they come for me, I'll continue to write

like what, as Americans, we should all say

“Give me Liberty or give me death”

And I'll be free until THEY

come for me in the grey fog

on a cold and rainy day

but please remember, that just like a name,

there is no part of the Future

that we cannot change.......

If I tried to draw I'd probably stab myself in the eye with the pencil. Don't worry, the government isn't coming for ya unless you give them an excuse. Rounding people up is a logistics nightmare unless you can kill all of them. Interesting poem. Not particularly structured but it had it's moments

A cold rainy night then Andrew with the world seemingly very distant. But the grass must be good and the sun will rise in the morning.
