Terrified

Terrified

A Poem by Nosce Te Ipsum

Do I look brave to you?

The scared little girl

behind closed doors,

behind glassy tear filled eyes.

She is make believe,

a portrait of self-worth

when in reality

it is the complete opposite.

She is drowning

in her own misery,

her dissatisfaction with

the person she has produced,

a disgrace to the world.

No one will love her,

are you truly that blind?

I am not brave,

a false façade of shattered glass

is of no worth to anyone.

Soft piano music

plays in the background,

a dimly lit room,

a handful of candles

lighting the dingy corners

of the old floral bedroom

where she lays

and continues to lay

as she ponders.

Ponders life, ponders meaning,

purpose and cowardness,

a picture of herself,

void of the first,

filled to the brim of the last.

She takes her last breath.

Goodbye.

Honestly, I simply write for myself. I'm not big on the technicalities. I do it to keep myself sane because generally there is no other way to release my emotions. I will be thrilled and overjoyed if .. more..
