Not Afraid

Not Afraid

A Poem by Angela Hunter

I'm not afraid

Whoosh
Ripped out of place
Screech
No time to call out
Clunk
Metal on metal

To be laid down

Blur
Whipped in circles
Still
Frozen in time
Close
Right beside

To sleep

Burnt
Worn-out rubber
Rotten
Even in foreshadowing
Iron
From the inside-out

Perchance to dream

Pain
In the headache
Pain
In my crimson makeup
Pain
In my public solitude

Goodnight

I loved how you ended it with goodnight. It creates this mysterious, dark mood. And I really liked how in each line you try to use one to three words. It leaves an impression. This was beautifully written, and a really like your choice of words!
