A Beautiful Dream

A Beautiful Dream

A Poem by Angela Payne
"

A dream

"
I had a kind of beautiful dream last night
that I was a child who was dying and because of that
I knew that when people were death
they were given small powers that gave happiness
to those around them in times of need.
I was with my parents walking through a big city
and the sun had begun to set
and all I wanted to do was watch it over the ocean
but I couldn't seem to get a good view past the buildings.
It was then that an old man came up to us
and through fits of coughing told us to follow him.
Underneath a bridge running parallel to the shore we watched the sunset.
As we stood the most magnificent rainbow bubbles
soared past us toward the setting sun and
when I looked to find their source neither it nor the man could be found.
My mother began laughing. "Where are they coming from?" she inquired.
I looked to her and smiled.
They were from the man who was going with the sun.
