It does, specially for those who seek to be better, who have self respect and worth, but let's just say by handling this experience, it shows how they are truly like that, a worthy full with self-love and self esteem, to accept the fact that it happened to deepen and strength those qualities inside them.

It is an incredible skill to create feeling in the reader using just four words! Your poem powerfully describes much of the nature of shame - or perhaps it is that shame itself is so powerful, you don't need many words to describe it. Either way, I think this is genius!

You said a handful in the few words. Shame, deeds done that laid heavy upon our mind. Hello my friend and thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Strange how you would rather be beaten to death than shamed.

After a childhood of abuse, shame was the hardest foe to banish from deep within myself. It took years to root out the shame habit (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It does...and we can never seem to dig it out.
