April showers

April showers

A Poem by Abhilash Hegde

Sunbathed in apple red,
Clouds flavored in vanilla,
The air smells of mischief
As the parched rain chimes.

O' the lovely blush
Of the cheeks.
O' the call of the summer
By its beloved spring.
O' the sands awaiting
As too wet in rain.
O' thy scent of elixir
Palliating my senses.
O' thy droplets
Jazzing my lips.

I stand by the windowpane
Gazing at
The yellow primes
Flirting with bees,
Green leaflets making love.
Through the ridges,
Drops trickling
And palpitating
To cloy and coalesce
Into the mud.

The icy drops necked
And slithered me,
As it's tender touch
soaked me in lightness.

In awe of your charm
I want to cede
In thy heavenly abode.
In sweet smell of petrichor
I would rest
In thy peaceful pour.

April showers, April showers,
Come embrace me.
I waited for thy pour
To souse in your soul...

The very best part of this poem is how you capture this scene with vivid imagery for all the senses. When you say something is "apple red" or "vanilla" -- these are great color expressions, because we also get flavor, scent, crunch sensations, lots of extra information beyond "color" to stimulate all the senses, not just the eyes. Another thing that stands out in your poem is the difference between winter rain which can be dramatic but gray & dreary, but you show us the contrast about spring rains, which are so lively & which seem to perk up all the new life that's abounding. Happy Easter to you & your loved ones (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

One can see the beauty when it is not restricted and tied. I can see this in this write of yours. I loved the way it is written. What a welcome to a the cherished one!
It literally swayed me as it went on its unrestricted flow ( I hope you understand what I mean).
Romance with showers, the beauty of the beginning and end are particularly echoing in my heart. Very nicely written. Loved reading it.
Thank you for sharing.:-)

A lovingly written ode to rain given birth from the passing of seasons.

An imagery-ladened piece that drips its images just like the droplets of rain in your April showers. The language used and choice of words is very descriptive and delicately written to describe the wonder that occurs at the time of the seasonal rains.

A very creative piece of writing. Very well done.

Review: Wow! What imagery in words you weave and walk your readers through a fantasy like world of compassion and emotion. Great use of words that I seldom see used by anyone younger than me which shows you have a very good vocabulary. The timing and meter are ideal, I hope you get the chance to use this at a poetry reading as I am sure it would bring down the house. Great job I give it five out of five Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
