Let's toast

Let's toast

A Poem by Abhilash Hegde

Amidst the myriad thoughts
and those screeching honks,
I met my past
to reminisce those glorious times.

On a cold chilling evening,
down those four exciting summers,
we had bumped into each other lives.

The roaring wind
blew past my silent ears,
echoing the chimes of her.

Time had learnt to
to swallow its tongue,
but the dumb heart
relented to skip her beat.

I held my glass of wine
and toasted it in wilderness,
as the chilling rain drops
swept past my dusty eyes...

Thank you Kay-T for reading and sharing your thoughts on it.
A delicate piece.
"echoing the chimes of her." I really like that line.
Nice work.

I love the line..."I met my past..." had this vision of meeting my past on the corner of The Here and After--it was impactful:) Heartfelt write Abhilash--Toastin' to the Eternal Now!

................Amen!
Unrequited love (and lost love) can really do a number on the heart. But it certainly makes for a good read. Take care, Abhilash! Nice to meet you!

Thank you Kym for your review.. I'm glad to hear you liked it.
Indeed this sadly reflective piece is quite moving as the protagonist recalls their loss and yet is now able to accept it and even celebrate it. Nicely penned!

Beautifully conveyed. I love how you have woven nature into these lines to reflect on the emotions when remembering a love affair. Good work Abhilash. All good wishes.
