two wings and heart

feather like wings,

I wear them today,

and fly away.

not wanting to know,

to where and why?

not seeking to question,

how far, how long?

and until when?

worthless, isn't it?

and it's so funny,

the heart, 

it doesn't listen. 

it's on a flight of freedom,

perhaps, to a promised land?

no stopovers,

no aches,

no brakes,

just happily gliding

into the open sky.

such a foolish heart.

can't cage it,

it just does

what it does,

today.

I am very drawn to this write A.H. .... it's uncanny because when i want to relax and visualize a moment that takes me out of myself this is the scene, riding on the back of some great feathered bird that serenely flies above everything, lakes, mountains meadows etc...... and now you have been there too ....:)

Hello A.H!!! What a wonderful poem, I like how you mentioned going to the possible promise land which holds dear to my heart so immediately this spoke to me. Also there are theories that the human heart can store memories. The heart is one of those things that people are still speculating about so pretty wonderful thing you mentioned here that it's also an uncontrollably body part.

Why fight it when the heart yearns for freedom? The heart and the head might not always be on the best talking terms, but both always knows what's best for them, until it isn't and realisation dawns.
But until then, why not just go with its flow and soar along with it.

I like the way you bring this heart to life (metaphorically)....and how it appears to have a mind of its own...outside the body..it is no longer caged....wants to be free and travel to who knows where....
Now it has feathers to fly....this is very imaginative... and shows us that our emotions can go wild.
