back of the line

back of the line

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

I don't need your 'too kind' words
I don't need the promises you won't keep
Trust me there's nothing I haven't heard
You can say to try and keep me
I'm not going to spend the next umpteen years
Working to try and fix you
It'd be a whole other situation here
If that wasn't what you expected me to do
Bad boys have lost all their appeal
Or I'd like to tell myself it's so
I want something that I can feel
And doesn't shake my bones
Just to be on the same page
To March to the same beat
Instead of trying to walk your way
While tripping over your stupid feet
You tell me that you need me
That this is just how it works
But every time I think you're leaving
Honestly, it hurts
You drive me insane
I poss you off
We argue for days
And then we don't talk
One of us gets bored
We make the first move
Because I'm the girl next door
And I'm deep in like with you
But this time I will say
That this is the last time
Because my life's about to change
And I'm putting you at the back if the line
