My 15 Minutes of Fame

My 15 Minutes of Fame

A Poem by Annette Jay Sweeney
"

"Say it ain't sooooooooo"

"

My Fifteen Minutes of Fame

I pull the curtain to the wall

and shut out the world for

fifteen minutes every day.

All my fears are drowned

in the water that cascades

down all around me.

It starts with the words of Rivers

calling to me, “Say it Ain’t So”

and continues with my hips-

sway,sway,sway to the beat.

Soon I am crying out the day,

like a coyote yipping at the night,

as I will never sing outside.

I dance in the water like a lover,

the perfect strip tease you will

never have the pleasure to see.

Shampoo ran through my hair

like the fingers I so long to feel,

each bubble a secret I hold within.

Conditioner mimics the soft caresses

of after passionate love and

fulfills my physical needs.

When it is done, I flip my hair,

like a wet dog shaking or

a heavy metal-er headbanging,

and bring myself back into the real world.

You have a very interesting style to your poems, shorts. Very story-teller like.

This whole piece here had wonderful use of imagery. I love the line "dance in water like a lover" it's very free & full of wonder.

What a great imagination, I can so appreciate. My, studio, is my car on my 50 minute commute to work and back everyday. It has a real nice sound system, and tinted windows, so with a pair of dark sunglasses, I'm in my own element, dreaming of singing in front of thousands as I sing my lungs out to my favorite songs lol. An awesome write Annette with a perfect title too.

There is a beautiful tenderness expressed in these moments of pure freedom, lost within the wonder of self and your own world, secluded from the outside. This was so marvelously written, and I loved the playfulness of your words.

Fifteen minutes of fame... I gotta say this isn't what I expected when I saw the title, but I was pleasantly surprised. You captured the fifteen minutes of caressing, shampooing, and fluttering water over your body, and I love the way you characterized it ("Shampoo ran through my hair like the fingers I so long to feel, each bubble a secret I hold within.Conditioner mimics the soft caresses of after passionate love and fulfills my physical needs").

This was a great work.

You experience these conscious moments and I like it. It is undeniable that there are aesthetic and non-aesthetic attitudes in life. But is there such a thing as the aesthetic attitude? What is meant by the aesthetic attitude is the particular way in which we regard something when and only when we take an aesthetic interest in it. This assumes that on all occasions of aesthetic interest the object or activity attended to is regarded in an identical fashion, unique to such occasions like taking a shower.
