Process of sorrow

Process of sorrow

A Poem by Anthony
"

This ranges from mood swings, to how we treat the homeless, and how some people prejudge those with emotional problems.

"

People like me experience sorrow

An emotion no one wants to follow

It’s not something to be kept until tomorrow.

When people get this disease they fall to their knees.

It can be caused by death, or when someone takes their last breath.

But, in the words of Gerard Way, “you’ll carry on, you’ll carry on, even though your dead and gone believe me your memory will carry on”.

There are people dying in the streets, you think they’re ok?

Any normal person would say no way, even though they proceed to cast them away.

You think these people happily stay, as they slowly drift away.

But, enough of the poor let’s continue with their neighbors on the second floor.

I have friends that can shut down in an instant and yet we’re still thriving, yet when some rich kid gets asked to share his things he thinks they’re defiling.

Me, lose all sense of emotion, I guess you can say I become numb.

And when I explain this, you look at me like I’m dumb.

I have a friend that can randomly breakdown at any given time, because emotions can be sweet as cherry, and quickly become sour like a lime.

Everyone can change at the drop of a dime, and yet you immediately think they might wanna die.

Well the good thing for right now is, everyone I care about is still alive.

So, I’ll experience another tomorrow, as I complete the process of sorrow.

sorrow, loss and pain are universal and relatable ..you picked a solid theme ... you chose free verse .. actually more a prose form which is something to keep in mind ... form .. rhyming in this, for me is a bit trite .. i do not mean that in a critical way so please take no offense .. it is not easy to master rhyming so that it has flow and comes across as "natural"
i love how you have tied sorrow to emotional and mental illnesses and the stigma attached to them .. there is a huge need for continued education of the general public that they really are illnesses .. and treatable .. and can be as crippling and devastating as malignant cancers ..
Welcome to the Cafe Ant! ... i applaud you for joining in ... at such a young age you have lots of time to work on and evolve you "voice" ... my biggest suggestion is to read read read ... others poetry .. all kinds of it ... we have people here who use just about every form you can think of and a lot that are little heard of ... i also suggest taking classes ... if you like check this out: https://www.coursera.org/?utm_source=gg&utm_medium=sem&utm_content=01-BrandedSearch-US&campaignid=380484307&adgroupid=37885224444&device=c&keyword=coursera%20courses&matchtype=e&network=g&devicemodel=&adpostion=1t1&creativeid=322351827325&hide_mobile_promo&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsY7f-qv25gIVyJ-zCh3x4AJwEAAYASAAEgKvt_D_BwE
they offer all kinds of classes including poetry and writing ... some are free .. i took a basic poetry writing class from them and a second one on finding ones' "Voice" ... also you might check this site out from the University of Iowa ... they offer free writing classes from time to time which i have found to be very helpful and educational .. i have taken 4 of them ... if you sign up and create an account they will let you know when the next MOOC (Massive On-line Open Course) is offered
https://www.mooc-list.com/initiative/novoed
i found the MOOCs to be very beneficial ... and they are free ;) welcome to the Cafe' .. the more you read of others the more they will return the favor ..
