sanctuary

sanctuary

A Poem by ari

The blade bites deeper into the soft flesh

it will not let me be free
it wants me
I won't let it have me
the blood pays for my freedom in sin
every cut is a pathway to righteousness.
I double the pressure and drag the blade,
it cuts deeper.
your words are my sin
my thoughts are your prey
I twist and turn but it, you, won't let me live
"I can't breathe!" I cry
"learn to breathe in the blood," you say to me
as though blood was better than oxygen.
I have learned that blood pays.
It gives better than any oxygen...
I now have become the scars on me,
in me,
you have swallowed me whole.
I am now new in you, I find life in you.
you are my sanctuary.
