Let the Mystery Be

Let the Mystery Be

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

It seems we never get enough attention from all our friends We seek to play, everyday in the vain hope it never ends

"

David Moore

It seems we never get enough

attention from all our friends

We seek to play, everyday

in the vain hope it never ends

As writers we are a vain bunch

never satisfied with ourselves

Making wonders, of life’s blunders

that will then sit upon our shelves

From each of the great poets here

we search for that kindly spirit

Seeking such proof, tempered by truth

In hopes we can stand to hear it

We all seek the purpose of life

through our friends we each spread our wings

With each letter, we get better

from that comes the joy writing brings

There will be a wonderful bar

for all the friends that we once knew

Where all will gather, tip our hats

for the poet whose heart was true

Friends will die and leave us alone

with those things of life we can’t see

Though I know well, he'll never tell

I think I’ll let the mystery be

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
David Moore the man who selflessly helped me publish my books and renewed my faith in Humanity passed away from cancer today. "You were a truly good soul David" This hurts, bad. I had so hoped for a different outcome for you. May we one day meet on the other side.
Goodnight my friend. .

There are some things my dear friend, that we shall never understand and must be left alone, as you have come to recognize. Your words encourage us to accept what is "is" even though we hope and wish with all our might for it to have been another way. A mystery beckons us to investigate, try to understand, but it shall always be just that....a mystery! As poets, we perhaps feel we have keener insight, and may try to make reason out of rhyme, but in the end, we are equally as lost to explain certain events!!
A beautiful write that has already touched many hearts with its feeling and wisdom!!

I've had it happen to me. It's sad and a little scary. You did a great job on this, I'm glad to see it got to number one.

The finality is so hard for us to grasp in this type of loss. I lost my best friend 10 years ago and it devastated me. That one girl friend that you share everything, no matter where each of you are, you stay connected through it all. I'm not sure you find another like that after such a loss. She was so vibrant and full of life. I miss her so much and I was so fortunate to have known her. She had tough times, not sure if I'd say she's in heaven or not. If they didn't let her through the gates, I'm sure she charmed her way in eventually!

i know that from my sympathies you won't get your friend back, but my sympathies are with you.....a great tribute to your very best friend through a wonderful poem.....part of our life like your late friend leaves us alone in the world in which to live without them is really a nightmare......keep writing

First, my sympathy in the lose of your friend. This is an honorable tribute to him, and to the friendship you had. We are never prepared when a part of our lives leaves us, no matter what we do.
A very good write, my friend.

i am sorry for your loss. i agree, that although we may be poets who write of pain, if we've never experienced personal loss then they will just be words on a shelf. it also makes us think of our own immortality. very nice.

What you wrote is true in what we are and how you feel is commendable I lost a lot of friends overseas but where we are is just the beginning and it takes time to find the piece inside for whats held inside the love for a brother or sister that has fallen just give yourself time and understand they are free now so live good for them they will be weating for you.

verse one to the end rings so true, and isn't it a wonderful celebration? thank you for this poem, Tate. Honestly, I feel blessed to have come to know (through our writing) this community of writers here on the wc. I love the song you had playing throughout, it's beautiful! and yes, it's good to just let the mystery be, just let it be.
