Childhood Nights

Childhood Nights

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

How sweet our former lives.

"

me Tony Kernie

Me on the left Tony in the middle and Kerny on the right

In dreams of my sweet former life

 with the wonders childhood poses

I find those friends I left behind

still so young and fresh like roses

I wonder if to them I'm old

when they think upon occasion

Do they wonder as, I do

of that inner child's persuasion

To me they are the cherished ones

memories of lost summer nights

When we played hide and seek till dark

enriched by all life's smells and sights

In dreams they live on as before

echoes of games we use to play

I start each night as they ended

with the dreams from yesterday

You have such a gift. The ability to trigger deep emotion in the reader. This brought tears to my eyes and images of summer evenings, running barefoot in the grass with friends, the air heavy with the perfume of honeysuckle. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your mind!

Ah to be young again. I like the content Tate as always. Not being a poet myself I find it hard to rate, critique or give advice. I'm not sure if line 2 comes through as clear a meaning as you intended. I don't now whether its because of a mistake in the wording or an attempt to force a rhyme that didn't lend itself to the concept. Is it supposed to be "the one I lived as darkness closes"?

The memories of childhood- playing hide and seek, getting dirty, playing under the rain, climbing trees... it was simply heaven. sometimes i would want to go back to such time when all i do was to be happy for i was blissfully unaware of the things that i should be worried about. Another excellent write!

A sweet and happy childhood weathers more storms than a lighthouse at the beach. Nice write Tate.

You've captured the sweet memories of a wonderful childhood very well in this poem, Tate. No concerns, heavy thoughts or burdens, only the innocent joy of being a child. Well done.

Beautiful childhood and the games we played , hours of just being . Those memories are the best.

Excellent once more Tate. Could feel the sun shining in this piece, just like it always seemed to do when we were young. A wonderful look back at yesterday.
